What is FUE hair transplant and how does it work?

The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique involves the individual extraction of follicular units - groups of 1 to 4 hairs - directly from the scalp in the occipital donor area, without the need to remove a strip of tissue. Each follicle is extracted with a micropunch of 0.7 to 1.0 mm, leaving micro-punctures that heal within a few days without leaving a visible linear scar. Once extracted, the follicles are classified and stored in a preservation solution. The trichologist then creates recipient channels in the area affected by alopecia, following the design of the hairline and the natural angle of the patient's hair, and the follicles are implanted one by one. The result is completely natural growth that is indistinguishable from the original hair. The transplanted follicles come from the occipital area, which is genetically resistant to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone responsible for androgenic alopecia. Therefore, once implanted, they retain that genetic resistance and grow permanently throughout the patient's lifetime.
