What blepharoplasty is
Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery. It can be done on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both at once, and its goal is to remove the excess skin and fat bags that make the eyes look tired or older.
On the upper eyelid, the extra skin can end up hanging over the line of sight. On the lower eyelid, the usual issue is fat bags and excess skin under the eyes. There is a genetic component, which is why it can appear as early as age 30 to 35 and not only with age.

Blepharoplasty is cosmetic surgery: it treats extra skin and fat bags. When the eyelid droops because the muscle that lifts it is weak (ptosis), when the eyelid turns outward or inward, or when it needs reconstruction, the case goes to an oculoplasty specialist, the ophthalmologist dedicated to the eyelids. The assessment defines your case and, if needed, we arrange the appointment with that specialist.
